When I ask brides about the style of makeup that they would like on their wedding day, a lot of brides ask for defined eyes with a softer lip colour.
I love the look of eyeliner, as it looks beautiful in wedding photographs and if you keep the eyeshadow light and pretty, the right amount of eyeliner can make the eyes look defined, without looking heavy.
How to you achieve the perfect eyeliner? There are many products that you can use – from matte eyeshadow powders applied with a brush to liquid liner, but if these products scare you slightly and you would rather use a pencil, then this guide is for you.

My top tips for applying eyeliner pencil:
1) Apply your eyeliner pencil after your eyeshadow and before mascara
2) Lift your eyebrow, so your eyelid is ‘taut’ and smooth when applying your eyeliner
3) Rather than ‘painting’ the eyeliner on in one long line, apply the eyeliner in tiny strokes, right into the lashline
4) Apply the eyeliner all the way along the lashline, which will emphasise the length of your eye - do not cut the eyeliner off half the way across your eye
5) Soften the eyeliner by using a cotton bud
6) Start the eyeliner thinner at the inner corner of your eye and make the line thicker towards the outer edge of the eye, to make the eye appear more lifted
7) I like to apply less liner on the lower lashline than on the top – too much liner on the lower lashline can pull the shape of your eye downwards
Which eyeliner should I use? It can be difficult to find a pencil eyeliner that won’t smudge on your wedding day, as so many pencils are wax based, which can smudge or run easily.
